Pricing Guide
Below are typical starting premiums by coverage type, plus the factors that determine your final price. Every risk is different — the numbers here are a starting point, not a quote.
These are common minimum starting points. Your premium depends on your operations, exposures, limits, and the carrier.
From $1,000+ / year
A typical starting point for general and trade contractors who need pollution coverage their general liability policy excludes.
Starts higher
Remediation and restoration work carries greater pollution exposure, so premiums begin significantly above the standard contractor minimum.
$1,650–$2,500 to start
For fixed locations. The range moves with the site's risks, exposures, gross receipts, and other underwriting factors.
From $350 / year
For UST and AST owners and operators. Varies with tank count, age, and the limits you carry.
Underwriters weigh a number of factors when pricing environmental coverage:
Starting premiums for contractors pollution liability (CPL) and environmental liability generally begin around $1,000 per year for standard general and trade contractors. Mold, flood, and fire remediation contractors typically start significantly higher because of their greater pollution exposure.
Site-Specific Environmental (EIL/PLL) premiums often start around $1,650 to $2,500 and vary based on the site's risks, exposures, gross receipts, and other factors.
Pricing depends on the underwriter, your operations and hazard level, coverage limits and deductible, claims history, and the specific coverage options selected. Two similar businesses can receive different premiums from different carriers.
The premiums on this page are illustrative starting points, not quotes, offers, or guarantees. Actual pricing varies significantly based on the underwriter, the coverage options you select, and many other factors. Your final premium is determined by the carrier's underwriting once your application is reviewed. Coverage, terms, and availability vary by state and carrier and are subject to underwriting approval.
